It is the mission of the Lake Jackson Parks and Recreation Department to be a leader in the State of Texas, providing diverse quality recreational opportunities to all citizens of our City, and providing the citizens with a high aesthetic quality of parks, parkways, and esplanades throughout the City through the efficient and innovative use of the available resources.
The Parks Department serves as the labor force in the maintenance and development of our city parks, parkways, landscaping projects, and green areas surrounding our city buildings and facilities. These areas are maintained according to standards which will insure safe and aesthetically pleasing places of leisure.
This department also assists in cleanup of storm damage, special events operations, daily preparation of recreational ball field areas, litter control, tree planting, and park, parkway, and right of way tree maintenance.
The Recreation Department provides recreational, educational, and physical activities for the public. The programs provided utilize our city facilities and parks and are a vital contribution to the enhancement of the quality of life in our community.

The opening of the BASF Dog Park has had to be delayed until early fall (September/October) due to delays in construction. We have a few items to finish up including establishing a thick and healthy grass turf. We are excited for the opening and are looking forward to seeing all the people and dogs enjoying the park, unfortunately we need the turf to be healthy and durable first. Thank you for your patience.
